Your path to becoming a CASAC
| Step 1 |
Complete the four courses of ICDS training |
350 hours |
6 months-one year |
| Step 2 |
Work in an addiction counseling environment as a CASAC-Trainee (must include 300 hours of supervised practical training. Each of the 12 Core Functions must have been performed for a minimum of 10 hours, under the supervision of a Qualified Health Professional) |
6,000 hours |
3 years |
| Step 3 |
Complete the written and oral test to obtain your CASAC certification |

Your path to becoming a CPS
| Step 1 |
Complete 50 hours of ATOD training and 50 hours of prevention specific training through ICDS |
100 hours |
2-6 months |
| Step 2 |
Complete a practicum supervised by a qualified prevention supervisor. Practicum can be supervised through ICDS or you may find a local qualifed prevention supervisor to provide this for you |
120 hours |
2-3 months |
| Step 3 |
Work in a prevention environment supervised by a qualified prevention supervisor |
1,000 hours |
6 months |
| Step 4 |
Complete the written test |
