New Mexico - Distance Learning LSAA & LADAC Training

New Mexico - LSAA & LADAC TrainingNew Mexico has two credentials related to chemical dependency counseling:

  • LSAA - Licensed Substance Abuse Associate
  • LADAC - Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor

ICDS provides the required education to become an LSAA and an LADAC in the state of New Mexico.

LSAA

LSAA Requirements

Age at least 21
Supervision Must be supervised at time of applying for LSAA status by an LPCC, LFMT, LPAT, licensed psychologist, licensed clinical psychiatrist, LADAC, clinical nurse specialist in psychiatry or LIS. Supervisors must be experienced in drug and alcohol counseling. Signed experience plan from a supervisor expected with application.
Previous Education Associate's degree in counseling, counseling related field, or a substance abuse related field from an accredited institution
Additional Education 90 hours total education in drugs, alcohol and counseling

LADAC

LADAC Requirements

Age at least 21
Supervision Must be supervised at time of applying for LADAC status by an LPCC, LFMT, LPAT, licensed psychologist, licensed clinical psychiatrist, LADAC, clinical nurse specialist in psychiatry or LIS. Supervisors must be experienced in drug and alcohol counseling.
Previous Education A minimum of an Associate's degree in counseling, counseling related field or a substance abuse related field from an accredited institution
Experience in an Addiction Counseling Environment If Associate's degree - minimum of three years and three thousand hours under appropriate supervision
If Bachelor's degree - minimum of two years and two thousand hours under appropriate supervision
If Master's degree - minimum of one year and one thousand hours under appropriate supervision
Additional Education 276 hours addiction counseling specific education
Test National Certification Examination for Addiction Counselors
